EchoFloat Terms of Use and Content Guidelines

Version 1.3, effective 23 October 2026. What changed from 1.2 (13 October 2026): the section "Floats" — the app's own currency, what it is and what it is not — and the allowance for your own sticker packs in "Limits built into the service".

EchoFloat is a private, non-commercial messenger: text channels with attachments and voice calls. By using the application and the server at echo.godrink.beer you accept these terms. They also set out what may be posted and how to report content — the rules any product needs when one person sees what another person wrote.

How we handle data is described in the [privacy policy](/privacy).

Who may use it

What may not be posted

The following are not allowed in channels, attachments, channel names or account names:

Everything you post must be yours, or something the rights holder permits you to use.

Pets (bots)

A pet is an account a program drives; its card names its owner. On this server only the server administrator makes pets.

Sticker packs

Anybody can put a sticker pack together and publish it. A published pack is everybody's to see: it is found in the catalogue, added to one's own stickers and sent from. A pack's card names its author.

Floats

Floats are EchoFloat's own currency. They are not money: they cannot be bought for money, exchanged for money or withdrawn, and they have no monetary value. Floats are issued by a server administrator as promo codes, given at launch and paid for quests — for acts with friends in the app; they are spent on features inside the app, such as HD+ for streams or one more slot for your own stickers. Nothing is on sale for Floats yet: every feature of the app is free.

How to report content

Every message written by somebody else has a "Report" item in its menu. It asks for a reason (harassment, sexual content, child safety, violence, unlawful content, spam, something else) and lets you add a comment. The report goes to the server administrator together with a copy of the message — the copy matters because the author can delete or edit the text before anyone reviews it.

Reports land in a queue the server owner reviews by hand. The outcome is either that the message is removed or that the report is closed as unfounded. We do not promise a review time: one person runs this project. For anything urgent — child safety above all — write directly to support@godrink.beer.

A sticker pack is reported from its card, with the same "Report" item and the same reasons. The report goes into the same queue.

You can also report what is not a message: a participant's behaviour, a channel name, or the service itself, by the same email.

What an administrator can do

We try not to remove more than necessary, but where the rules and convenience conflict, the rules win.

What we do not promise

The software is provided "as is", without warranty. We are not liable for damage arising from its use, nor for what other participants write.

Limits built into the service

So that one person cannot take up the whole server: at most 20 messages per minute, 30 uploads per hour, 20 reports per hour, a daily upload allowance per participant and a total storage ceiling. Sticker packs: at most 5 new ones a day and 10 of one author's own; stickers: at most 300 an hour and 32 in one pack. A Floats promo code may be tried at most 10 times an hour. Registration is rate-limited per address. A pet has budgets of its own: at most 60 messages a minute, and 20 into any one chat.

Changes

These terms may change; the version and date at the top of the page say which ones are currently in force. Significant changes will also be announced in a channel everyone can read.
